Student-Built AI Platform esi.in Reaches 1 Lakh Monthly Organic Visitors Before Founder’s Graduation
Created largely by a single BITS Pilani (H) student, esi.in has expanded to nearly 150,000 useful pages, crossed 1 lakh monthly organic visitors with more than 10 lakh organic impressions, and started generating revenue, showing what an individual builder can now develop with the help of AI.
Mumbai, 20 August 2026: Until recently, creating a technology platform with close to 150,000 pages, AI-powered tools, personalised user experiences, cloud infrastructure, payment systems, search-led acquisition and more than 1 lakh organic visitors every month would almost certainly have required a large team, significant time and substantial resources.
esi.in was created by one student.
No employees.
No development agency.
No freelancers.
No outsourced technology team.
And a large part of the platform was developed before its founder had even completed college.
Vyom Vyas started building esi.in during his final semester at BITS Pilani, where he was pursuing a dual degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering and Mathematics, along with a minor in Data Science.
During the same period, he was also completing his mandatory internship and other academic responsibilities. ESI was therefore not being developed as a full-time startup supported by a funded engineering team. Instead, it was built largely during spare hours each week by a student exploring what could be created by bringing together software, data, AI and continuous iteration.
By the time Vyom graduated, the experiment had already developed into a sizeable live internet platform.
Today, esi.in includes approximately 150,000 pages and receives more than 1 lakh monthly organic visitors. People discover the platform through thousands of different search intents covering careers, resumes, education, STEM, colleges, universities, health, hospitals, finance, insurance, calculators, directories and common everyday decisions.
The platform has also started receiving its first payments from users through early monetisation experiments.
The payment amounts themselves are not the main story.
The stronger signal is that a platform developed by one student, initially without a dedicated sales organisation or a large marketing budget, has progressed from attracting users through organic search to seeing some of those users pay for selected tools and experiences.
AI Is Creating a Different Kind of Startup Story
Most discussions around artificial intelligence focus on how large organisations can automate work or how established businesses can improve productivity.
The development of esi.in highlights another possibility: AI may significantly increase the amount of technology that a single individual is capable of building.
Vyom has independently worked across frontend development, backend systems, data architecture, AI integrations, analytics, SEO, cloud infrastructure, product design, testing and deployment.
AI has not simply been placed on top of the platform in the form of a chatbot. It has been used extensively throughout the process of conceptualising, developing, testing and expanding the product.
The result is a remarkably broad platform created with very little organisational infrastructure.
That wide scope is intentional.
The idea behind ESI is that important decisions in people’s lives rarely remain limited to a single category.
A person considering a new job may also need to evaluate salary, skills, location, family responsibilities and financial objectives.
Someone preparing to purchase a home may need to consider not only the EMI but also liquidity, investments, insurance, career stability and retirement planning.
A student selecting a college may look at rankings, suitability of courses, affordability, location and where that education could eventually take them.
Most websites deal with only one part of these decisions. ESI is being developed to bring those different parts together.
From Nearly 150,000 Pages to a User’s Personal Context
The large public-facing section of esi.in works as its discovery layer.
A visitor might reach the platform while searching for information about a college, hospital, resume tool, career guide, EMI calculator, retirement calculation, STEM resource or one of thousands of other topics.
The next stage of ESI is considerably more ambitious.
The company is building My ESI, a user-controlled personal context layer intended to gradually understand the areas of an individual’s life that they decide to share.
The process could begin with something as basic as a resume or an individual goal.
As time passes, users may decide to provide professional experience, educational background, financial details, investments, insurance information, assets, liabilities, tax records, health information, personal preferences, upcoming decisions and other relevant context.
The objective is not to require users to complete an extensive profile all at once.
My ESI is being designed to begin with whatever information is already available, provide value from the start, and become progressively more useful as additional context is added.
One document could help improve one response.
Another piece of information could uncover an important connection.
Over time, information that was previously scattered can begin forming a personal decision graph.
ESI Next Builds on the Personal Context Layer
Above My ESI sits ESI Next, the developing personal decision assistant.
The distinction may appear small, but it is significant.
A general-purpose AI system can respond to:
“How much emergency fund should someone have?”
ESI Next is being developed to eventually address:
“How much emergency fund should I have?”
Answering the second question may require knowledge of that specific user’s income, household expenses, dependents, loans, insurance coverage, job stability, investments and future goals.
In the same way, instead of only responding to:
“Is a ₹60,000 EMI affordable?”
ESI could evaluate whether such an EMI fits with the user’s current commitments, liquid savings, planned home purchase, other financial objectives and career circumstances.
The goal is not simply to produce a greater number of answers.
It is to make those answers increasingly less generic.
AI Makes the One-Person Startup More Achievable
What makes the ESI story unusual may be just as much about the way the platform was created as about what it is becoming.
Working independently, a student was able to develop and operate a platform at a scale that would traditionally have required specialists in engineering, content, analytics, SEO, infrastructure, product and artificial intelligence.
Building in this manner naturally came with limitations.
However, it also created an advantage: ideas could move from concept to implementation at exceptional speed.
There was no need for a handoff from a product manager to a designer, from a designer to a developer, from a developer to a tester, or between an agency and a client.
The same individual could identify a problem, plan an experiment, build it, observe how users reacted and make further changes.
AI significantly shortened this entire cycle.
Challenges that previously would have required organisational coordination increasingly became questions of imagination, judgement and execution.
ESI Moves From a Student Project Towards a Startup
With meaningful organic traffic already in place, early signs of monetisation beginning to appear and its founder now able to focus on ESI without the limitations of college, attention is shifting from simply growing the platform towards connecting its different parts more effectively.
The long-term objective is to prevent users from having to begin every major decision from scratch.
ESI offers the wider universe of information, tools and possibilities.
My ESI gradually creates the user’s individual universe of context.
ESI Next is intended to use that context to help address the question that matters most:
“What should I do next?”
For Vyom, the project began with a laptop, a few available hours each week and the belief that a single person could now create significantly more than had previously been possible.
The platform’s early figures indicate that this belief may have had merit.
Approximately 150,000 pages.
More than 1 lakh monthly organic visitors.
Real users.
Early revenue.
And, until graduation, effectively a one-person team.
At a time when artificial intelligence is frequently discussed in the context of replacing work, esi.in presents another side of the AI story: the technology may also greatly increase what one ambitious individual is capable of building.
About esi.in
esi.in is an AI-native discovery, personal intelligence and decision-support platform covering careers, education, learning, finance, health, tools, directories and everyday decision-making.
Its developing My ESI layer is intended to create a user-controlled context graph using information that individuals choose to provide, while ESI Next is being built as a personal decision assistant capable of using relevant permitted context to help users understand available choices, assess trade-offs and determine what may come next.
