Bigg Boss 20 Premieres September 6, Salman Khan Returns as Host
Season 20 brings a two-house format and a redesigned set built around a “Vardhaan” theme.
New Delhi, September 5, 2026: Bigg Boss 20 will premiere this Sunday, September 6, 2026, with Salman Khan back as host of the reality show.
The season will stream on JioHotstar at 9 pm, followed by a broadcast on Colors TV at 10:30 pm, according to the channels. Bigg Boss 20 is part of a wider rollout this month, with Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam editions of the franchise going on air within days of each other, reports say.
This year’s theme has been named “Vardhaan.” Reports say contestants will get two chances in the game through a two-house format, so an eviction from the main house would not necessarily end a contestant’s run straightaway. Promos have shown Salman Khan referencing the film Karan Arjun and repeating the word “Tathastu,” used when granting a wish, which fuelled speculation about a second-life twist before further details were shown.
The house has also been redesigned. Art director Varsha Jain has taken over from Omung Kumar, who had designed the set for the previous 19 seasons. The new house spans about 10,000 square feet and uses 104 cameras, built around what the makers call a “duality” concept blending jungle and circus elements with a fantasy-style design. Visuals released ahead of the premiere show a shark-themed swimming pool, a large anaconda wrapped around a tree in the garden, a teapot reworked into a couch, and a gorilla statue near the bathroom. Two areas called Room No. 2 and Room No. 20 have also been shown, though their purpose has not been revealed yet. All contestants will reportedly share one common bedroom this season, and the kitchen has been redesigned as a “BB Food Truck.”
The full contestant list has not been officially announced. Names appearing in reports include television actor Aman Gandhi, last seen in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2, and Punjabi actor Isha Rikhi, whose reported separation from rapper Badshah after five months of marriage has kept her in the news. Other names doing the rounds include Geeta Basra, Showik Chakraborty, Amrapali Dubey, Kushal Tanwar (known online as Gullu), singer Qazi Touqeer, Arishfa Khan, Anjali Arora, boxer Mary Kom, Khushi Dubey, Yukti Kapoor, Kanika Mann and Rohed Khan. Reports differ on which of these are confirmed and which have only been approached.
Actor Rajat Bedi, who had earlier been reported as a confirmed contestant, will not be part of the season, according to a more recent report.
Ahead of the premiere, the show has also run a segment called “Fans Ka Faisla,” in which viewers are voting to decide whether Rhiya Ahir or Love Gill gets the final spot in the house. The result is expected around the time of Sunday’s premiere.
